Query Experimentation Suggestions

Below are a few queries that you can enter to get a better sense of how word embedding models work, using the Word Vector Interface. Unless indicated otherwise, these queries are designed for the default “WWO Full Corpus” model, though you can try them with any model to see how your results change.

Basic queries:

Comparison:

  • Search for “england” in the “WWO 16th and 17th Centuries” and the “VWWP and WWO” models
  • Search for “freedom” in the “WWO 16th and 17th Centuries” and “VWWP Full Corpus” models (make sure to expand the number of terms in your results to get a better sense of how the differences are operating here)
  • Search for “grace” in the “WWO 16th and 17th Centuries” and the “WWO 19th century” models
  • Search for “cotton” in the “WWO 16th and 17th Centuries” and the “WWO 19th century” models
