Instead of using a combination of facsimile and text as we do in the previous slides, we are going to use the sourceDoc element. This element allows us to combine references to images and transcriptions of the text.

sourceDoc should contain surfaces, zones, and lines as you would in facsimile, however, these elements now contain the content of the transcription.

The zone elements can have coordinates, just as they do when they occur within facsimile

Each line is given the change attribute, which points to a description of the revisions made. change will be discussed in the next slide.
