We can also signify relationships between the people in our personography, as well as affiliations that these people have to different organizations.

We use the relation element to specify relationships between people and organizations. The name attribute allows us to specify the type of relationship between the people listed. Additionally, the mutual, passive, and active attributes allow us to specify the directionality of the relationship. So, for example, Harry is the child of Lily and James Potter, and is therefore the "active" member of that relationship. However, if the relationship is labelled as "parent," Lily and James would become the active members. Mutual relationships are those whose direction goes both ways, such as friends or spouses.
