are proud to present:

In Her Own Words: Elizabeth I Onstage and Online

Elizabeth I Memorial Portrait, Crispin van de Passe I, after Isaac Oliver. Image by permission of the Folger Shakespeare Library. In Her Own Words is a series of performances that dramatize the life and times of Elizabeth I, Queen of England from 1558 to 1603. Based on original texts written by the monarch herself, these performances bring her words to life. The inspiration for this series comes from the The Brown University Women Writers Project's ten years of experience in collecting and preserving writings by women in English prior to 1830.

Thanks to a grant from the Rhode Island Committee for the Humanities (RICH) and assistance from the Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services, we are able to cooperate with the public and private libraries of Rhode Island in organizing this series of performances.
